What is the screening process?
After we review your resume, we do an initial screening by phone. Then we arrange a personal meeting with a member of our Operations Department.
During the interview, we review your resume, your portfolio (either a hard copy or an online version), and match your background and skill set to the opportunities we have available.![]()
Do I have to take a test?
A test is not required for professionals with extensive backgrounds.
In certain cases, our Account Directors want to test applicants. The purpose of the testing is to determine an applicant’s proficiency in an application or program.
For your convenience, we offer online testing. The test is emailed to you from the online testing resource we use.
You’ll find the test easy to understand.![]()

It helps us determine how well suited you are to the freelance or permanent positions we have open.![]()

Can I raise my rate?
We look at each case individually.
Rates are negotiated between TTS and the candidate. Some jobs have established pay ranges. Others come with an hourly rate, dictated by the client.
If a candidate has been working steadily for a client, the rate can be discussed and, with the approval of the client, it can be modified.
An adjustment is more likely if the job description or job responsibilities have changed.![]()
Can I choose the assignments I take?
Yes.
We inform you before we submit your resume to a client to determine if you’re interested in the job.
Once the client sees your resume and expresses an interest in you, we inform you.
If you’ve become unavailable, you can refuse the job. We ask you to let us know when you’ll become available.
We track the conversations in our database to help us email or call you when we know you’re available.![]()
Do I call in to tell you about my availability?
Yes.
We encourage all registered candidates to check in with us periodically.
You can also submit an updated resume or any samples you’ve added to your portfolio.
We will update your file.
The more you stay in touch with us, the easier it is for us to find work for you.![]()
Do you place talent outside of the metropolitan area?
Yes.
Although we’re based in New York City, our staffing resources are national.
In fact, we have job-posting contracts with all the major job boards, which provides widespread national exposure.
With our online testing capabilities, we can do pre-employment screening and background searches when clients anywhere in the country request them.![]()
